Clarivate, a global provider of transformative intelligence, has announced the appointment of Maroun S. Mourad as President of its Intellectual Property (IP) segment, effective September 8, 2025. Mourad previously led the Claims Solutions division at Verisk Analytics and will succeed Gordon Samson, who will retire at the end of 2025 following a career spanning leadership roles at CPA Global and Clarivate.
The company framed the appointment as part of a broader strategy to ensure long-term, stable growth in its IP business. The incoming executive brings experience in global data and analytics, software, and technology-enabled services, and is expected to strengthen the segment's innovation and performance trajectory.
Prior to joining Clarivate, Mourad oversaw a portfolio of products and services for Verisk Analytics that supported clients across the global insurance policy lifecycle. His responsibilities included managing product strategy, service delivery, and acquisitions. With a background in leading both established operations and business transformations, Mourad has worked across the U.S., U.K., Europe, and emerging markets since 1998. He holds a BA in political science and a JD from the University of California, Berkeley.
Clarivate stated that its current IP business model was significantly shaped under Samson’s leadership. His contributions included developing the operating framework and advancing the organization’s transformation initiatives.
The Intellectual Property segment at Clarivate provides IP data, software, and advisory services to support innovation management and protection. The company’s portfolio spans the entire IP lifecycle, including IP management software, patent services, patent intelligence, brand IP solutions, and litigation intelligence.
