CLOCKSS activates preservation for Journal of Home Language Research -

CLOCKSS has made the Journal of Home Language Research (JHLR) permanently available under a CC-BY license, following its entrusted role from Stockholm University Press to preserve its digital archive. This step ensures that all previously published content from the now-defunct open-access title remains accessible for future research.

JHLR was a peer-reviewed academic journal that focused on research related to home languages, spanning applied and theoretical linguistics, psychology, education, and sociology. The journal featured scholarship on topics such as multilingualism, family-based language retention, and maternal labor in cultural and linguistic continuity—including studies conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Although JHLR has ceased accepting new submissions, the digital preservation initiative ensures its scholarly contributions are retained in perpetuity. CLOCKSS’s involvement reinforces its mission to safeguard valuable academic content beyond a journal’s active lifespan.

By continuing to collaborate with publishers like Stockholm University Press, CLOCKSS enables long-term access to scholarly literature and supports global efforts to preserve academic knowledge for future generations.
