Healthcare education and information provider CMPMedica, UK, part of United Business Media plc, recently announced a partnership with medical database provider Scientific Institute for Medical Information and Documentation (SIMID), Switzerland. Under the deal, metadata and full-text articles from CMPMedica's portfolio of medical journals will be included in the SIMID Scientific Medical Information Library Europe (SMILE) database. With this move, CMPMedica aims to increase European readership and international exposure to key medical research.
CMPMedica provides information and education to healthcare professionals and patients across the globe. It has a unique portfolio of professional media products including newspapers, magazines, drug directories, electronic databases, websites and events. Its US-based magazines include, Consultant, an independent clinical journal serving primary care clinicians. Also included in the CMPMedica portfolio is: Psychiatric Times, ONCOLOGY, BioMechanics, Consultant for Pediatricians, Diagnostic Imaging, Physicians Practice and many other specialty-specific clinical journals.
SIMID SMILE is a combination of a database and a library in which the metadata of medical journals and books are available and whereby the direct user access is granted to the full text. Users can now gain direct access to medical articles published in scientific journals, from publishers with whom SIMID has a contractual relationship. SIMID SMILE covers 43 medical disciplines such as Oncology, Cardiology, Psychiatry and Virology.
