Open access (OA) scholarly publisher Co-Action Publishing, Sweden, and the Norwegian Institute for Children's Books have announced the launch of a new peer reviewed Open Access title, Nordic Journal of ChildLit Aesthetics (BLFT. Barnelitterært forskningstidsskrift, in Norwegian). The journal will be free to read and free to publish in.
BLFT looks to embrace research on contemporary and emerging media formats in addition to themes related to more traditional literary forms such as books, as reflected in the Journal's aim to 'be a scholarly forum for aesthetics of children's literature, analogue and digital media, verbal and visual expressions of art, and views of art and children'. The journal has emerged against the backdrop of a Nordic research network.
BLFT is published on behalf of the Norwegian Institute for Children's Books, with financial support from 'Kunstløftet', an initiative from the Norwegian Cultural Council to enhance the quality of art and culture for children and young people, and stimulate research on and dissemination of novel insights into art for children. To capture research that is closest to the subject matter, the journal accepts contributions in English or any of the Scandinavian language. All articles are accompanied by an English abstract to assure intellectual access to a broad community.
