The World Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) and euroCRIS recently announced a strategic partnership. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed at the euroCRIS members meeting in Madrid/Spain on November 6, 2012. The partnership will be based on the mutual understanding of the importance of Open Access to research results and the need for appropriate mechanisms for ensuring this.
Specific attention will be paid to the domain of interoperability between different systems such as OA repositories and CRIS to ensure appropriate management of research results. Therefore, an exchange and joint work will be set up between euroCRIS's task group on Institutional Repositories and COAR’s working group on interoperability.
The World Confederation of Open Access Repositories is an international association of Open Access repository initiatives and networks, envisioning a global knowledge infrastructure. It aims to facilitate greater visibility and application of research through a global network of open access repositories, based on interoperability and international cooperation.
