The Frankfurt Academy team is planning the inaugural edition of CONTEC Frankfurt – a new conference series created to meet the needs of all members of the publishing ecosystem. On the eve of the Frankfurt Book Fair (October 8, 2013), CONTEC Frankfurt will shed light on the many ways the experience of publishing itself is changing, covering the most relevant topics and presenting them in a way that promotes dialogue and exchange among attendees, speakers and even those following along via social media.
The first edition of CONTEC Frankfurt also marks the premiere of the CONTEC International Publishing Startup Showcase. CONTEC is working with Ziggeo.com to provide a unique online showcase for publishing startups from around the world – three of which will be invited to present their companies live at CONTEC Frankfurt.
Relatively young publishing (and publishing-related) startups, as well as established companies incorporating new technologies or business models, have until September 1, 2013, to submit their Ziggeo video elevator pitch. CONTEC's programme committee will select the top three entrants to present their startups in-person to an international audience of industry movers and shakers. Interested parties may visit ziggeo.com/bd7d4353 for additional information and a full list of selection criteria.
CONTEC Frankfurt will offer actionable tips for integrating big data/small data, explore the latest in open platforms and standards, examine alternative sales channels, and much more. A special track devoted to publishers and startups, as well as executive roundtables on self-publishing and the future of higher education and academic publishing, will round out the programme.
Along with established industry thought leaders, CONTEC will feature fresh new voices, including Porter Anderson, Journalist, The Ether; Nathan Hull, Digital Product Development Director, Penguin UK; Kristen McLean, Founder & CEO, Bookigee; Madi Solomon, Director, Content Standards, Pearson PLC; and Stephen Smith, President & CEO, Wiley.
