Copyright Clearance Center announces new functionality in RightsLink® for Scientific Communications -

Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC), a leader in advancing copyright, accelerating knowledge, and powering innovation, is announcing new functionality in RightsLink® for Scientific Communications (RLSC), its market-leading, comprehensive scholarly communications workflow solution. RLSC is now able to inform authors of available Open Access (OA) publication funding throughout the manuscript lifecycle, starting with submission.

Leading submission platforms such as those offered by CCC partners Aries, ScholarOne and eJournal Press, enable authors to preview Article Processing Charges (APCs) that may be due upon manuscript acceptance. Now, leveraging RLSC’s agreement management capabilities, authors can see a list of possible funding sources for paying those fees based on publisher agreements with institutions, consortia or funders.

RLSC enables publishers, funders and institutions to support a variety of Open Access agreements. It accelerates the implementation of OA deals, including Read and Publish Agreements, Publish and Read Agreements, Membership Deals, and more. RLSC is now the most widely adopted market solution to support institutional agreements, ease the APC payment process for unfunded authors, facilitate alignment with mandates such as Plan S, and lower operating costs for all parties.

CCC works with publishers, funders and institutions as they seek to further simplify implementation of OA institutional agreements and accelerate deals in effect for 2021. More than 30 publishers rely on CCC’s sophisticated agreement management solution to serve more than 800 global academic institutions, consortia, and funders – including Jisc, Max Planck and California Digital Library. CCC’s Open Access Workflow Services, a comprehensive consulting practice providing strategic OA institutional agreement workflow support, helps organisations deliver on each agreement’s unique needs.
