Copyright Clearance Center (CCC), a not-for-profit organisation providing copyright licensing solutions, Inc., has announced the appointment of veteran attorney Iris Geik as Associate General Counsel.
Iris joins Frederic Haber in CCC’s Legal Department, which addresses the full gamut of legal issues that face CCC as a provider of both collective and centralised licensing solutions in copyright industries and of associated software-based tools and utilities. Previously, she represented clients in the publishing, entertainment and high tech industries.
Iris was in-house Counsel at WGBH Public Television and, since 1994, had served as an outside counsel to Reed Elsevier and other prominent organisations on legal and copyright policy issues. She is an Adjunct Professor of Copyright Law at Suffolk University Law School, co-chair of the New England chapter of the Copyright Society of the USA, a member of the American Bar Association (and its Section on Intellectual Property), and a member of the International Trademark Association (and its Federal Legislation Committee).
