Council of Australian University Librarians and Taylor & Francis sign new transformative agreement -

The Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL) and Taylor & Francis have signed a new transformative agreement which combines read access to journals with open access (OA) publication of research from participating institutions.

Under the three-year partnership, beginning January 2023, researchers from participating institutions in Australia and New Zealand can choose to publish OA in an extensive range of Open Select (hybrid) Taylor & Francis and Routledge journals, without needing to pay an article publishing charge. The number of OA articles to be published under the deal is planned to increase each year.

The agreement also ensures library users at participating institutions can continue to read all the Taylor & Francis journals in their current subscriptions.

This arrangement is compatible with the recently announced National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Open Access Policy, which allows funded researchers to publish OA in hybrid journals that are part of a formal agreement.
