CQ Press publishes Encyclopedia of Water Politics and Policy in the United States -

CQ Press, a division of academic publisher SAGE, has announced the publication of the Encyclopedia of Water Politics and Policy in the United States, a comprehensive reference source that analyses water-related issues in America. The publication is co-edited by Steven L. Danver, professor in the Center for Undergraduate Studies at Walden University, and John R. Burch, Dean of Distance Learning and Library Services at Campbellsville University.

A diverse group of over 100 scholars researched and analysed water's significance by tracing its impact on issues like national and state boundaries, environmental impacts, western migration, urbanisation, and the economy. This unique resource also chronicles the origins of present-day water problems, political conflicts, the impact of legislation and court decisions on the use of water resources, the major projects undertaken across the country, and what experts propose, to preserve this basic component of the environment.

Going back some 150 years, the encyclopaedia provides an overview of approximately 280 pieces of water-related legislation, legal cases, people, projects, and organisations that have shaped the history of the US. In addition, many current environmental issues, including acid rain, agriculture, climate change, mining, erosion, levees and dams, pollution, urbanisation, and wastewater treatment, are also covered.

The Encyclopedia of Water Politics and Policy in the United States highlights important events, advocacy groups, people, books, and sites important to water politics and policy. A thematic table of contents allows users to easily locate reclamation projects geographically, biographies of important figures, current issues by subject area, government agencies, and legal cases, making this a reference that belongs on every library shelf in America.
