Serials Solutions, a US-based provider of tools and services for libraries and a business unit of ProQuest LLC, and Credo Reference, an online reference library, have announced that researchers will soon be able to discover content from Credo's General Reference, Publisher and Subject Collections from the Summon web-scale discovery service.
With this new agreement, the Summon service will now include results from Credo's reference content - together with Credo Topic Pages - providing the overview and background information that researchers need when beginning to explore a new topic.
Over the past three years, Credo General Reference has significantly expanded its content, now boasting over 500 titles covering all academic subject areas. The Publisher Collections offerings are growing and will be joined in 2011 with Subject Collections, providing users with world-class content for their research experience.
A cornerstone of the Summon service is its unified index, which makes the full breadth of a library's collection and resources easily discoverable. A user simply enters his or her search terms and relevant results are returned by the Summon service within seconds. The Summon service currently includes content from more than 6,800 providers and contains over 600 million records.
