The Cardiovascular Research Foundation® (CRF®) is excited to announce the appointment of Josep Rodés-Cabau, MD, PhD, as the new Editor-in-Chief of Structural Heart: The Journal of the Heart Team, the official journal of CRF®. Dr. Rodés-Cabau will take over from Anthony N. DeMaria, MD, who is retiring after leading the journal since its inception in 2017.
Under Dr. DeMaria’s leadership, Structural Heart achieved significant milestones, including its partnership with Elsevier and its indexing on PubMed Central in May 2023. In response to the increasing volume of submissions, the journal will also transition to a monthly publication schedule starting in January 2025, expanding to 12 issues annually.
Dr. Rodés-Cabau, a Professor of Medicine at Laval University in Québec City, Canada, brings decades of expertise in structural heart disease. He has led numerous research, innovation, and academic programs at the Quebec Heart & Lung Institute and Clínic Barcelona in Spain. With a distinguished career, Dr. Rodés-Cabau previously served as an Associate Editor for the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC). He will officially assume his role as Editor-in-Chief on July 1.
In addition, Jeffrey Popma, MD, has been appointed as the Deputy Editor of Structural Heart. Dr. Popma, currently the Chief Scientific and Strategic Officer at CRF®, will work alongside Dr. Rodés-Cabau to help shape the journal’s future direction.
These leadership changes reflect CRF's continued commitment to advancing research and knowledge in the field of structural heart disease.
