The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) and Érudit have signed a new five-year agreement (2025–2029) under the Partnership for Open Access (POA), strengthening support for non-commercial scholarly publishing in Canada. With 57 participating libraries, the agreement provides financial backing to 260 scholarly journals.
Since 2014, POA has eliminated Article Processing Charges (APCs), ensuring that Canadian researchers—particularly those from underfunded institutions—can publish without financial barriers. Over 1,500 researchers contribute annually to POA-supported journals, which reflect Canada’s linguistic and academic diversity.
With this renewal, POA aims to support up to 100 additional journals and reinforce Canada’s leadership in Diamond Open Access, ensuring knowledge remains freely accessible.
