Academic publisher Cambridge University Press and the Association for Clinical and Translational Science (ACTS) are jointly launching a new Open Access title - Journal of Clinical and Translational Science (JCTS ) - set to start publishing in 2016 and open for submissions from April 30, 2016. This new launch in translational science in partnership with the prestigious ACTS, will further strengthen Cambridge's growing Open Access program by publishing the highest quality papers from around the world on the topic, contributing to the development of the field.
Journal of Clinical and Translational Science is an international peer-reviewed journal that will publish papers capturing the spectrum of research from T1 (translation from research lab bench to bedside) through to T4 (translation to populations). Specifically, JCTS will highlight outstanding work in the following areas: Basic Translational Research; Clinical Research; Education; Research Methods; Implementation, Policy and Community Engagement; and Translational Research Design and Analysis. The journal is dedicated to combining high quality original translational science reports with up to date articles on important issues in translational research, including news, reviews, interviews, opinion pieces, and more.
The Editor-in-Chief of JCTS is Dr Arthur M. Feldman, Laura H. Carnell Professor of Medicine, Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, Philadelphia, USA. The international Editorial team includes recognised leaders in clinical translational science from around the world who have taken a lead in shifting attention and action to improving human health through translation, as well as a wider Editorial Board that will reflect and emphasise the broad scope of the field.
Cambridge has achieved much in the Open Access arena; over two thousand journal articles are freely available on their journals' platform, including thirteen gold Open Access journals, and in 2014 Cambridge published its first set of Open Access books. This partnership will therefore place the ACTS in a competitive position under the guidance of Cambridge's expertise supporting them through the Open Access publishing landscape.
With the creation of the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) by the National Institutes of Health in 2006, discussions among CTSA leaders led to the identification of a number of needs to advance clinical and translational science, and the ACTS was specifically created to address the needs identified. Now with the launch of their new Open Access Journal, in partnership with Cambridge, ACTS will be able to further promote its mission of supporting clinical and translational research nationally and internationally.
Journal of Clinical and Translational Science will be hosted on Cambridge's industry-leading platform, benefiting from a range of the latest author services including article level usage metrics, Altmetric data and Kudos. A discounted article processing charge is available for members of the Association for Clinical and Translational Science.
