Dartmouth Journal Services launches mobile journal application for The Endocrine Society -

Journal production services provider Dartmouth Journal Services (DJS), part of The Sheridan Group, US, recently launched a mobile journal application for The Endocrine Society. The free Endo Pubs iPhone app became available in the iTunes App Store on May 23, 2011 with future releases of an iPad-optimised version and Android version scheduled for later this year.

Developed as a content discovery application, the Endo Pubs app features access to article abstracts for four Endocrine Society journals - The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, Endocrinology, Molecular Endocrinology and Endocrine Reviews. The app also provides content search, user selected ‘My List’ or bookmarking of articles for later use, and social sharing of article links via email. In conjunction with The Endocrine Society ENDO 2011 Annual Meeting, full access to the entire library of Annual Meeting Abstracts has been added.

Forthcoming updates to the app will provide users with added control over the app behaviour through expanded settings, the ability to receive content from multiple RSS feeds, and the ability to share content via Twitter and Facebook. Users will also have the ability to follow The Endocrine Society on Twitter and Facebook and receive new content alerts from the automatic alert system. Additionally, The Endocrine Society will gain advertising support and receive real time usage statistics via Google Analytics to assist them in identifying and addressing emerging trends.

Sheridan’s Mobile Alert application is the most recent offering in an expanding suite of proprietary technology solutions. Mobile Alerts are customised mobile content delivery mechanisms that can feature article abstract viewing or full-text article access, per the publisher’s request. Sheridan Mobile Alerts are compatible with the predominant mobile platforms, including iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android. All are built on top of a scalable and configurable XML-based Mobile Content Delivery System (MCDS) that handles the content import, conversion, management, and distribution.
