Academic publisher De Gruyter will publish the open access journal Innovative Surgical Sciences, beginning in 2016. This newly founded journal is a publication of the German Surgical Association (DGCH). Dr. Joachim Jähne will act as editor-in-chief, heading an international editorial board.
The journal will appear quarterly in English. It will serve as an international forum for the discussion of scientific and practical issues in the field of surgery, publishing original papers, reviews, and case studies.
Founded in Berlin in 1872, the German Surgical Association (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Chirurgie) is one of the oldest professional associations in the medical sciences. It currently has 6,600 members.
