Date, Location – On January 31, 2024, the DIAMAS project unveiled the results of its Institutional Publishing Landscape Survey, providing a comprehensive overview of the European landscape of institutional publishing activities. This milestone publication offers valuable insights into the workings, scale, finances, open science practices, and challenges faced by institutional publishers, paving the way for enhanced support and development within the realm of Diamond Open Access.
The release of the survey results signifies a significant achievement for DIAMAS, shedding light on the operational dynamics of institutional publishers and providing a roadmap for strengthening their operations. With a clear understanding of the landscape, DIAMAS aims to formulate evidence-based strategies to support Diamond publishing and promote equitable access to scientific work.
Building upon the survey findings, the DIAMAS project will develop a self-assessment tool to enable institutional publishers and service providers to evaluate themselves against the Extensible Quality Standard for Institutional Publishing (EQSIP). This initiative is poised to enhance coordination, quality, and sustainability within the institutional publishing sector.
Furthermore, the Landscape Report derived from the survey will serve as a foundation for policy and strategy recommendations targeted at research performing organizations, funders, sponsors, donors, and policymakers at regional, national, and international levels. These recommendations aim to bolster the Open Access publishing activities of institutional publishers and service providers across Europe.
The survey synopsis, accompanied by the full analysis, country reports, and dataset, will be complemented by an online event on February 7, 2024. This event will delve into the survey findings and explore their implications in depth.
The DIAMAS project comprises 23 organizations, including Aix-Marseille Université (AMU) as the Coordinator, OPERAS, CNRS, EIFL, and other prominent entities in the academic and research community. These collaborators are dedicated to advancing Open Access publishing practices and fostering collaboration across Europe.
