The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) has announced the appointment of Dr. Douglas W. Brown, as chair of the AOSSM Medical Publishing Board of Trustees. Dr. Brown will take over the position during AOSSM's Annual Meeting in Keystone, Colorado, July 9 -12, 2009. He will replace retiring chair Dr. David Sisk.
Dr. Brown has been an active member of AOSSM since 1981, serving as Program Chair in 1990, on the Board of Directors for 13 years, as Society treasurer for four years, and as president in 1999. He has previously served on the Medical Publishing Board of Trustees as treasurer for six years. In his new position Dr. Brown will help guide AOSSM's journals and patient education materials, which include the American Journal of Sports Medicine, In Motion and the new journal, Sports Health.
The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) is a leader in sports medicine education, research, communication and fellowship, and includes national and international orthopaedic sports medicine leaders. The Society works closely with many other sports medicine specialists, including athletic trainers, physical therapists, family physicians, and others to improve the identification, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports injuries.
