Dr. Erik R. Swenson to succeed Dr. John B. West as Editor-in-Chief of the journal High Altitude Medicine & Biology -

Publisher Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers has announced that Dr. Erik R. Swenson will assume the role of Editor-in-Chief of the journal High Altitude Medicine & Biology in 2016. Dr. Swenson will succeed Dr. John B. West, who has provided extraordinary leadership for the journal over the last 16 years since its launch in 2000. Dr. West will be stepping down from his role and will remain as Founding Editor.

Dr. Swenson is Professor of Medicine, Physiology, and Biophysics at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. His work over the past 20 years has been supported continuously by grants from the NIH, Veterans Administration, and American Lung Association. He serves as an advisor to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs, National Institutes of Health, and American Lung Association. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Applied Physiology and American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.

High Altitude Medicine & Biology is a peer-reviewed journal focused exclusively on the latest advances in high altitude life sciences, and is the primary source of information for clinicians, physiologists, and researchers studying the effects of reduced atmospheric pressure and oxygen deprivation.
