Dr. Jon Tennant to keynote special luncheon at NFAIS 2019 Annual Conference -

Open Science advocate, activist, and researcher Dr. Jon Tennant will deliver a luncheon address at the National Federation of Advanced Information Services' (NFAISTM) 61st Annual Conference, February 13 - 15, 2019, at the Hilton Old Town Alexandria Hotel in Virginia.

Dr. Tennant completed his award-winning PhD at Imperial College London, where he researched evolutionary patterns in animals like dinosaurs and crocodiles. He was the Communications Director of ScienceOpen for 2 years, but has spent the last year as an independent researcher. He is the founder of the Open Science MOOC, the digital publishing platform paleorXiv, and currently works as a PLOS Paleo Community Editor. He has spent much of his recent time challenging the business practices of the scholarly publishing industry, including formal complaints to the European Commission, and working with Education International on a global campaign to democratise knowledge.

The NFAIS 2019 Annual Conference theme, 'Creating Strategic Solutions in a Technology-Driven Marketplace,' focuses on the technology innovations, changing market demands, and new opportunities for delivering faster and more dynamic user experiences. NFAIS offers attendees a compelling and interactive forum for discussing strategies for adapting to the changing landscape, examining new disruptive solutions for accessing research and data, and addressing the long-reaching impacts they will have on society.

Interested parties may register for the NFAIS 2019 Annual Conference online at www.nfais/2019conference. NFAIS members can attend the luncheon for free. Non-members are also welcome to attend at the rate of $89 per person, and can register onsite.
