Dr Kit Sturgess has been appointed as Editor-in-Chief of Veterinary Evidence, the free, open access, peer-reviewed journal owned and published by RCVS Knowledge, effective September 2, 2020. He succeeds Professor Peter Cockcroft, Head of Veterinary Education at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Surrey, who has stepped down after completing his three-year tenure.
Dr Sturgess is a specialist in small animal medicine and an advanced practitioner in veterinary cardiology. He has been seeing referral small animal medicine cases for 25 years, both at university-based and private specialist practices.
Dr Sturgess is Chair of BSAVA Education Committee, Trustee of Cats Protection and Chair of Trustees of the Wildheart Trust. He was formerly an RCVS Knowledge Trustee and member of RCVS Council. He has authored numerous articles, two textbooks, and presents lectures and research abstracts at conferences worldwide.
Veterinary Evidence is the only free, open access journal for veterinary professionals that publishes evidence based on questions from veterinary professionals, responding to specific information needs. Recent surveys found that 100 percent of authors would resubmit and recommend Veterinary Evidence to others, and more than two-thirds of readers put the evidence published by the journal into practice.
