Dr. Mark Aldridge to deliver keynote at 2025 NISO Plus Global/Online conference -

The National Information Standards Organization (NISO) has announced that Dr. Mark Aldridge, Associate Professor of Screen Histories at Southampton Solent University, will deliver the opening keynote address at the 2025 NISO Plus Global/Online conference, scheduled for September 16–17.

Dr. Aldridge is widely recognized for his work on the cultural history of Agatha Christie and has authored multiple publications on the subject, including recent titles focused on the fictional detectives Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot. In April 2025, he served as the lead researcher and writer for the BBC Maestro course on Agatha Christie, which employed artificial intelligence to reconstruct the voice and appearance of an actress portraying Christie. The course aimed to explore mystery writing using original language attributed to the author.

In addition to his academic publications, Dr. Aldridge co-produces a podcast on Agatha Christie’s legacy in collaboration with writer Gray Robert Brown.

His keynote address will be delivered on September 16, at approximately 9:30 AM EDT (15:30 BST), and will reflect on the application of artificial intelligence in creative and scholarly contexts. The conference program is expected to consider the broader implications of emerging technologies for research, education, and the humanities.

NISO Plus Global/Online is a virtual conference focused on issues at the intersection of information standards, scholarly communication, and digital infrastructure. A range of sponsors supports the event, offering tiered pricing options with reduced registration fees available to students, member institutions, and participants from low- and middle-income countries.
