AIP Publishing has announced the appointment of Dr. Réjean Boivin as the new Editor-in-Chief of Review of Scientific Instruments (RSI). Dr. Boivin, a distinguished physicist and former Director of the Center of Excellence for Advanced Diagnostics at General Atomics, brings extensive experience and a commitment to fostering innovation in scientific instrumentation.
Dr. Boivin has been an active member of the RSI community for many years, serving as an author, reviewer, guest editor, and a member of the journal's Editorial Advisory Board. His background includes a B.S. in Physics from Université de Montréal and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Astrophysical Sciences and Plasma Physics from Princeton University. Throughout his 30-year career, he has contributed to renowned institutions such as the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the DIII-D National Fusion Facility.
In his new role, Dr. Boivin aims to broaden the journal's impact by reaching beyond traditional physics disciplines. He emphasized the growing need for advanced measurement tools across a wide range of scientific and engineering fields, highlighting Review of Scientific Instruments as a platform to support these evolving applications and encourage interdisciplinary collaboration.
Since its establishment in 1930, Review of Scientific Instruments has been a leading publication for pioneering research in scientific instrumentation, measurement techniques, and mathematical analysis. Under Dr. Boivin's leadership, the journal aims to continue its tradition of excellence while embracing new frontiers in science and engineering.
