In pursuit of its mission to champion equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) across the scholarly communication landscape, the European Association of Science Editors (EASE) has joined forces with industry partners within the Coalition for Diversity and Inclusion in Scholarly Communication (C4DISC). This collaborative effort aims to advance EDI practices for authors, reviewers, publishers, editors, and other crucial stakeholders involved in shaping the future of science.
With a steadfast commitment to fostering equity, diversity, and inclusion, EASE recognizes the imperative of addressing disparities within the scientific community. The EDI Committee of EASE has initiated a comprehensive survey to delve into the roles, policies, and existing practices related to EDI among stakeholders. The study, conducted in collaboration with C4DISC, seeks to uncover valuable insights that will guide efforts to create a more equitable scientific environment.
Commencing on January 3 and running through January 31, 2024, the survey invites members of the scientific community to actively participate in this crucial initiative. Stakeholders are encouraged to contribute their perspectives by completing a brief, anonymous survey, taking less than 10 minutes. The responses will play a pivotal role in shaping actionable plans and measuring progress toward enhanced diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The survey encompasses questions about workplace characteristics and perceptions of EDI. By maintaining anonymity, participants can candidly share their insights, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of the current state of EDI practices. The gathered information will inform future initiatives and the development of tools and guidelines to promote diversity across editorial, publishing, and peer review processes.
For those with queries or seeking additional information, EASE welcomes communication via secretary@ease.org.uk. Stay abreast of the latest activities and resources from the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee at EASE and C4DISC.
