E-book technology firm ebrary, US, has announced the availability of new tools and products that highlight premium, purchase-only titles in 20 high-use subject areas. It is projected to make it easier and more affordable for libraries and other organisations to select and purchase e-books.
Starter Packs are fixed collections of 25 to 50 essential e-books with discounts available when purchased in their entirety. Subject Guides are more comprehensive, frequently updated listings of 150 to 190 current titles that librarians and other information professionals may use as selection tools to pick and choose individual e-books.
Additionally, libraries and other organisations may complement the Starter Packs and Subject Guides with individual e-books from ebrary's growing selection of over 62,900 titles available for purchase. In the past month, it added over 2,200 new titles to its purchase offering from publishers such as Oxford University Press, The McGraw-Hill Companies, Blackwell Publishing and Taylor & Francis.
Starter Packs and Subject Guides are projected to offer sophisticated research utilities including multiple search options, personal bookshelves, highlighting, annotating and automatic citations. They also facilitate seamless integration with other ebrary databases and online resources in the library and on the web through ebrary InfoTools.
