EBSCO Clinical Decisions establishes Generative AI Advisory Council for responsible AI in healthcare -

EBSCO Clinical Decisions has announced the launch of its Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Advisory Council, a cross-disciplinary body dedicated to guiding the safe and responsible integration of AI into clinical decision support tools. Formed in June 2024, the council aims to ensure that generative AI applications enhance the quality and efficiency of healthcare information while adhering to ethical standards.

The council includes experts from healthcare, patient advocacy, legal, technology, and informatics sectors and provides independent oversight to EBSCO Clinical Decisions. Their primary goal is to align AI development with the Principles for the Responsible Use of Generative AI. This initiative follows EBSCO Clinical Decisions' recent introduction of Dyna AI — a generative AI feature for its clinical tools, DynaMedex® and Dynamic Health, launched in July 2024.

The council’s distinguished members are:

• Dr. Megan Hiles, Director, Wellness and Prevention Clinics, National Jewish Health

• Dr. Steph Hoelscher, Informatics Program Director, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center

• Dr. Alister Martin, CEO, A Healthier Democracy and Assistant Professor, Harvard Medical School

• Sonia Nath, JD, Partner and Chair, Global Life Sciences and Healthcare Regulatory Practice, Cooley LLP

• Dr. Deepti Pandita, CMIO and VP of Clinical Informatics, UCI Health

• Laura Simpson, MBA, COO, Autoimmune Association

• Veronica Tucker, Information Security Specialist

The council will ensure EBSCO’s generative AI tools are implemented ethically and effectively, prioritizing patient safety, data security, and equitable outcomes. This initiative underscores EBSCO Clinical Decisions’ commitment to supporting healthcare professionals with trusted, AI-driven solutions.
