EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has once again been recognized as a leading e-book provider by the ASPIREverified Accessibility Audit, earning the highest Gold-rated score for the fifth year in a row. This prestigious recognition, developed by textBOX and McNaught Consultancy, highlights publishers and platforms that maintain transparency regarding the accessibility of their content and user interfaces. The ASPIREverified Audit Scores are instrumental in helping libraries make informed decisions based on objective, data-driven insights.
The ASPIREverified service is the first verification system for accessibility statements within the publishing industry. It evaluates, scores, and verifies the accessibility statements of publishers and vendors, fostering a transparent environment for content and platforms. EBSCO, which achieved the maximum score for the first time in 2019, has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to accessibility, maintaining the top score every year since.
In addition to its participation in the ASPIRE audit, EBSCO adheres to various accessibility standards and guidelines. These include the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) 2.1 level A and AA, the U.S. Section 508 Standards of the Federal Rehabilitation Act, and UK and EU accessibility legislation for Public Sector Bodies. EBSCO is also preparing to meet new requirements under the forthcoming European Accessibility Act and ADA Title II regulations.
EBSCO eBooks provides access to a comprehensive collection of e-book content, fully integrated with EBSCOhost and EBSCO Discovery Service. The platform offers over 2,500,000 high-quality e-books, including more than 460,000 DRM-free titles, from over 1,500 major academic publishers and university presses worldwide.
This continued recognition underscores EBSCO's dedication to accessibility and its mission to support the diverse needs of libraries and their patrons globally.
