The global adoption of the open-source FOLIO library services platform continues to accelerate, with more than 300 libraries now using EBSCO FOLIO. The milestone reflects growing collaboration across academic, research, and national institutions committed to open-source innovation at scale.
Institutions such as the Library of Congress, Columbia University, the University of Kansas, and the University of Ghana are among those that have implemented the platform. The Library of Congress recently introduced a new Library Collections Access Platform based on FOLIO, developed in partnership with EBSCO Information Services. Enhancements created for the Library will be shared with the wider community, strengthening open-source development across the sector.
EBSCO’s implementation and hosting services support libraries of all sizes, including consortia such as SCELC and MOBIUS. These complex, multi-institutional implementations demonstrate how community-driven infrastructure can thrive with expert guidance and scalable services.
As adoption expands, FOLIO continues to advance through collaborative contributions from libraries, vendors, and partners worldwide. EBSCO is supporting this growth through ongoing development efforts, including a linked data editor to be introduced in the Trillium release and enhancements related to the new Eureka architecture. The company’s investments in open-source technology reinforce its long-term commitment to sustainable, community-led innovation in the global library ecosystem.
