The American Library Association (ALA) and EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) are partnering to offer three scholarships to librarians residing outside of the US to attend the 2019 ALA Annual Conference & Exhibition.
This year’s conference will take place from June 20 – 25 in Washington DC. These scholarships will allow librarians from across the globe to take advantage of the conference’s professional development, educational and networking opportunities.
Each scholarship will provide up to $2,500 to defray the cost of conference registration, travel and expenses. The scholarship recipients will be honoured by EBSCO and ALA representatives during the conference at a breakfast hosted by EBSCO.
The application deadline is January 1, 2019, and entries will be evaluated by a jury designated by ALA. Candidates must be an ALA member and submit an essay that answers the question: ‘Libraries, librarians and researchers become more technologically sophisticated every day. What challenges do you hope technology can address in the next five years to meet the needs of librarians and researchers?’
