EBSCO Publishing unveils clinical database for rehabilitation specialists -

Electronic research databases provider EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO), a division of EBSCO Industries, Inc., US, has announced the availability of a database called Rehabilitation Reference Center (RRC). With this initiative, EBSCO seeks to provide access to the latest evidence-based clinical information to thousands of physical and occupational therapists, orthopedists, and outpatient centre and homecare facilitators. RRC is designed to deliver valid and relevant information at the point-of-care so that rehabilitation specialists can build treatment regimens for patients.

RRC will grow to contain more than 600 clinical reviews, which pull together the latest research on diseases and conditions. The reviews are written and reviewed by in-house physical and occupational therapists, with the content organised such that information is easy to find and fit into the work flow.

RRC content will be updated monthly and urgent issues will be included in real time. The database will also provide users with access to tests and measures, patient education handouts, a drug reference guide, reference books, guidelines, clinical updates and nearly 10,000 exercise images. Each image demonstrates and explains an exercise. RRC users will be able to create custom patient education packets for individual patients that include home exercise images and instructions, plus evidence-based patient handouts.

The EBSCOhost Integration Toolkit is projected to allow for easy integration of EBSCO's clinical reference content directly into Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems. Bringing evidence-based information from a trusted source into the clinical workflow is seen to allow clinicians to quickly find relevant content and make informed treatment decisions. Linking technology available from EBSCOhost allows RRC users to link to other subscription databases from EBSCO Publishing, such as CINAHL, MEDLINE, SPORTDiscus and the soon-to-be-released Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Source.
