EBSCO's collection management tool now available to EBSCO customers worldwide -

Electronic research databases provider EBSCO, US, has announced that it has expanded the availability of its latest collection management tool - E-Package Renewals on EBSCONET - to include additional publishers as well as library customers around the globe. The tool can reduce the time libraries spend on e-package renewals from weeks to just a few hours.

Developed in collaboration with most of the major scientific, technical and medical publishers, E-Package Renewals is seen to significantly improve the efficiency of the e-package renewal process for library staff. It addresses time-consuming and challenging problems associated with the e-package renewal process such as gathering and maintaining the information required to manage individual licenses, identifying inconsistencies in library and publisher records, managing capped pricing, and tracking titles as they move between publisher collections.

E-Package Renewals helps librarians make the most of present day's shrinking budgets and resources. In addition, the tool provides many other customer benefits, including system-enforced contract terms to ensure subscriptions are renewed correctly; line-item-level pricing for package components, customised per contract terms where applicable; system customisation for multi-library campuses and consortia; readily available renewal information that eliminates multiple spreadsheets and lengthy e-mail chains; and single web interface for making format and title changes based on contract terms, with ability to view real-time impact on spending.

The E-Package Renewals service is available to EBSCO customers at no charge.
