East China Normal University's (ECNU) peer-reviewed journal, ECNU Review of Education (ECNU ROE), has achieved a significant milestone by entering the global ranking of educational academic journals for the first time. The journal, established by ECNU in Shanghai, was included in the prestigious "CiteScore 2022" ranking released by Scopus, the world's largest literature abstract and citation database.
ECNU ROE, an open-access journal aimed at fostering meaningful discussions and creating a global community of scholars dedicated to advancing knowledge and making a real impact in education, secured the 355th position out of a total of 1,469 journals. This marks a remarkable 30 percent increase in its ranking compared to the previous year.
Since its launch in 2018, ECNU ROE has been accepting empirical and conceptual papers, research reviews, policy reviews, and voices in the field of education. The journal actively seeks scholarly contributions that theorize educational experiences in non-English speaking contexts and provides timely reviews of significant educational research, policies, and issues. It also welcomes proposals for themed group articles derived from large-scale research projects or emerging interests.
ECNU highlighted that the journal is currently the only English-language international journal in education research fields supervised by the Ministry of Education and undertaken by the university. Authors from China, the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom predominantly submit their papers and reviews to ECNU ROE. Moreover, the journal's downloads and citations have spread globally, with the United States, Asia, and Europe serving as the main regions of interest.
The recognition of ECNU ROE's high ranking underscores the commitment of East China Normal University and its journal to promoting quality research and facilitating meaningful contributions to the field of education. The journal's inclusion in the global ranking reflects its growing impact and influence in the academic community.
