Education Resources Information Center available on WilsonWeb database -

Database producer H.W. Wilson, US, has announced that longtime research standard Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) is now searchable as a WilsonWeb database. Sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) of the US Department of Education, ERIC allows searching of 1.1 million bibliographic citations and more than 100,000 full-text entries on education topics as far back as 1966. These include journal articles, books, research syntheses, conference papers, technical reports, policy papers, reports from the What Works Clearinghouse, and other education-related materials. More than 600 journals are currently indexed by the database, the majority cover-to-cover.

Using ERIC on WilsonWeb is projected to offer unique research advantages. This includes seamless searching with Education Full Text, Education Index Retrospective, Social Sciences Full Text and other WilsonWeb databases. Search results are fully integrated. The subject thesaurus that made Wilson's Education Index 'a cornerstone for information and research' - American Reference Books Annual - is integrated into the ERIC thesaurus on WilsonWeb. WilsonWeb's 'All Smart' search relevancy ranking accounts for the importance of the field in which a particular search term is found (e.g. subject, title, abstract, author or full text). The 'My WilsonWeb' profiles allow users to create and manage saved searches and search histories. Provided links launch related searches, allow users to narrow results by author, subject, publication year, document type, and database (for multiple-database searches), or select previous searches from the Recent Searches listing.

In addition, the ERIC database is offered free on WilsonWeb to Education Full Text and Wilson OmniFile subscribers. Others can access it for an annual subscription fee.
