The American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology has named Edwin Aroke, Associate Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing, as Editor-in-Chief of the AANA Journal. The bi-monthly publication serves certified registered nurse anesthetists by highlighting research, emerging issues, and innovations that support professional practice and patient safety.
Aroke brings extensive experience as a researcher and clinician, with more than 70 publications and service as a reviewer for multiple peer-reviewed journals. He has held leadership roles including President of the Association of Cameroonian Nurse Anesthetists in America and membership on the AANA Foundation Board of Trustees.
His research has been recognized with several awards, including the 2024 International Society of Nurses in Genetics Founders’ Award and earlier honors from the NIH Pain Consortium and the Friends of the National Institute of Nursing Research.
As Editor-in-Chief, Aroke will guide the journal’s direction at a time of growing attention to developments in anesthesiology and nursing scholarship.
