EIFL and Open Book Publishers sign agreement to expand access to e-books in 33 countries -

EIFL (Electronic Information for Libraries) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Open Book Publishers (OBP), enabling libraries in 33 EIFL partner countries to access OBP’s extensive collection of open access e-books. This agreement offers free membership to OBP’s Library Membership Programme for three years, running until December 31, 2027.

OBP, a non-profit open access publisher founded by academics at the University of Cambridge, specializes in rigorously peer-reviewed monographs in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Libraries in countries such as Albania, Botswana, Ethiopia, Myanmar, Uganda, and Ukraine, among others, will benefit from this partnership.

Under the agreement, libraries will gain unlimited free downloads of all OBP titles in various digital formats, including PDF, ePub, mobi, and XML. Additional benefits include discounts on printed editions, customized course packs, and the right to permanently upload OBP e-books to library repositories. Furthermore, libraries will have access to downloadable MARC records, making it easier to integrate OBP e-books into their catalogs.
