The Electronic Information for Libraries (EIFL) and Oxford University Press (OUP) have announced the renewal of their partnership agreement, extending their collaboration for another year until December 31, 2025. This renewed agreement continues to provide EIFL’s partner libraries with free and discounted access to a broad range of OUP’s journals and online products. Additionally, the agreement waives Article Processing Charges (APCs) for corresponding authors in fully open access (Gold) journals, further supporting the global shift towards open scholarly publishing.
The new arrangement benefits libraries from a diverse array of countries, including current subscribers such as Ethiopia, Ghana, Uganda, and Zambia, as well as new additions such as Albania, Armenia, and Zimbabwe. These libraries now have access to OUP’s extensive portfolio of 375 journals and various online educational products, designed to enhance research and learning opportunities in institutions across these regions.
Importantly, EIFL’s agreement allows corresponding authors from 29 partner countries to publish accepted research articles in OUP’s fully open access journals without incurring APC fees. This provision helps foster greater research dissemination and accessibility, ensuring that researchers in developing nations are not hindered by the costs traditionally associated with open access publishing.
The countries eligible for these benefits include a wide range of nations from Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe, such as Albania, Armenia, Ethiopia, Fiji, Georgia, Ghana, Kenya, Moldova, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, Ukraine, and others. By offering these publishing opportunities and resources, EIFL and OUP are helping to remove financial barriers for researchers and promote the global sharing of knowledge.
