EIFL, European Respiratory Society renew agreement -

EIFL and the European Respiratory Society (ERS) have announced the renewal of their read & publish agreement, bringing valuable benefits to libraries and authors in 36 EIFL partner countries.

The agreement, which runs from January 2024 to 2026, offers free and discounted read & publish prices for access to and publishing in the prestigious European Respiratory Journal (ERJ). Notably, the renewal agreement now includes ERS's fully open access journals, broadening the scope for researchers to disseminate their work.

The European Respiratory Journal (ERJ), the flagship hybrid journal of the ERS, boasts an impressive impact factor of 24.3. It covers clinical and experimental research on various aspects of adult and pediatric respiratory medicine, spanning fields like cell biology, epidemiology, immunology, oncology, imaging, occupational medicine, intensive care, sleep medicine, and thoracic surgery.

The fully open access original research journal, ERJ Open Research, with an impact factor of 4.6, publishes diverse content encompassing basic science, clinical translational science, and clinical medicine in respiratory science and medicine.

For respiratory professionals seeking updates in medicine, science, and surgery, the fully open access European Respiratory Review (ERR) serves as an invaluable resource with its impact factor of 7.5. The journal offers review articles, editorials, correspondence, and summaries of significant recent research findings and published studies.

Moreover, Breathe, ERS's fully open access clinical educational publication, has garnered a notable impact factor of 2 this year. The journal aims to provide high-quality practice-focused educational reviews, cases, and viewpoints to a wide audience.

The read & publish terms for the agreement differ for various countries. Libraries in the specified 32 countries will enjoy complimentary access to the European Respiratory Journal. Additionally, corresponding authors from these countries will be able to publish their articles without any Article Processing Charge (APC) in open access across all four ERS journals.

The countries benefiting from the free read & publish terms are Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Botswana, Congo (Democratic Republic), Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Fiji, Georgia, Ghana, Kenya, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lesotho, Malawi, Maldives, Moldova, Myanmar, Namibia, Nepal, North Macedonia, Palestine, Senegal, Serbia, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Libraries in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovenia will have access to the European Respiratory Journal through an annual read & publish fee. Additionally, the fee covers free open access publishing for corresponding authors across all four ERS journals, eliminating the burden of APCs.

The renewed agreement marks a significant step forward in promoting scholarly communication and knowledge dissemination in the field of respiratory science, facilitating research collaboration, and ensuring equitable access to valuable resources for researchers in the EIFL partner countries.
