EIFL launches Guide and Campaign to support ROR ID Adoption -

Electronic Information for Libraries (EIFL) has released a new guide and launched a campaign to help research institutions in its partner countries obtain or update Research Organization Registry (ROR) identifiers.

The guide, ‘How to check whether your organization has a ROR ID and get one if it doesn’t’, outlines a four-step process for verifying, acquiring, and updating institutional records. ROR IDs are unique, open, and persistent identifiers that support accurate identification of research organizations worldwide.

By addressing challenges such as name changes, mergers, or language variations, ROR IDs improve institutional visibility, enable more accurate tracking of research outputs, and support information sharing systems and publishing platforms. They are already integrated into publisher platforms, repositories, and content discovery systems, including the International Repository Directory managed by the Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) and the OA Switchboard.

EIFL’s campaign targets more than 400 institutions in partner countries that currently lack ROR IDs, aiming to raise awareness and ensure broader adoption across consortium member institutions.
