The Electronic Information for Libraries (EIFL) has announced the renewal and expansion of its open access publishing agreement with World Scientific, extending the partnership through 2025. The updated agreement offers waived or discounted Article Processing Charges (APCs) for authors publishing in 148 hybrid and gold open access journals, a significant increase from the 111 journals covered in the previous agreement.
The renewed partnership provides waived APCs for researchers in 26 EIFL partner countries and discounted APCs for authors in 8 additional partner countries, enabling broader access to affordable publishing opportunities. The agreement supports EIFL’s mission to promote global knowledge sharing and open access publishing, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.
World Scientific, recognized as the largest international scientific publisher in the Asia-Pacific region, has been a key partner in EIFL’s efforts to enhance access to scholarly resources. With over three decades of publishing excellence, World Scientific continues to provide authors with opportunities to disseminate research globally while supporting open science principles.
Authors from the following countries can benefit from the agreement: Albania, Armenia, Botswana, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Estonia, Ethiopia, Fiji, Georgia, Ghana, Kenya, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Latvia, Lesotho, Lithuania, Malawi, Maldives, Moldova, Myanmar, Namibia, Nepal, North Macedonia, Palestine, Senegal, Serbia, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The expanded agreement reinforces EIFL’s commitment to equitable access to publishing and reducing barriers for researchers in underrepresented regions, fostering a more inclusive global research environment.
