eLife has announced the appointment of five new members to its Board of Directors, further strengthening its mission to transform research communication. These appointments include Dinesh Natesan (UC Santa Barbara, US), Kamran Naim (CERN, Switzerland), Fiona Watt (EMBO, Germany), Huda Zoghbi (Baylor College of Medicine, Texas, US), and Krishnaswamy VijayRaghavan (National Centre for Biological Sciences, India).
This expansion follows Timothy Behrens's recent appointment as eLife’s Editor-in-Chief. Together, the new board members will help guide eLife’s strategic priorities, particularly around publishing, technology, and research culture, ensuring high standards of integrity and innovation within the organization.
The new members were selected after an open call to global scientists with a track record of leadership and positive change. Dinesh Natesan, a Postdoctoral Researcher at UC Santa Barbara, will represent early-career researchers on the Board and support the eLife Early-Career Advisory Group. Kamran Naim, Head of Open Science at CERN, brings extensive expertise in open science policy. Fiona Watt, Director of EMBO, has long been a leader in stem cell research and advocacy for women in science. Huda Zoghbi, a renowned researcher in neurobiology, joins the Board after serving as a Senior Editor for eLife. Krishnaswamy VijayRaghavan, a leading developmental biologist, previously served as a Senior Editor for eLife as well.
eLife also bids farewell to former Board members Jane McKeating and Georg Botz, thanking them for their invaluable contributions.
With these appointments, eLife continues its commitment to shaping the future of scientific publishing.
