The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), the national organization representing pharmacy education in the United States, and Elsevier, a global leader in information and analytics, have announced a new partnership to publish the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education (AJPE), the flagship journal of AACP. The Journal will be hosted on Elsevier’s industry-leading online platform of peer-reviewed literature, ScienceDirect, beginning in May 2023.
Since its founding in 1937, AJPE has been firmly committed to providing the highest quality scholarly content across all facets of pharmacy education, serving the needs of passionate professionals in the United States and abroad who are dedicated to the advancement of pharmacy teaching and learning. It serves as a platform and unifying force for its membership and the broader pharmacy and inter-professional education communities, as well as documenting the proceedings of AACP.
AJPE continues its tradition of publishing excellence under the expert leadership of Editor Gayle A. Brazeau, PhD, Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Marshall University (MU) School of Pharmacy, supported by an eminent editorial board. After serving as an associate editor for more than 10 years, Dr. Brazeau became the first woman in the history of the Journal to serve as editor. Under her guidance, the Journal continues to grow and achieve significant milestones.
The Journal will expand its impact and outreach through availability via the ScienceDirect Freedom Collection, which includes the availability of 15 years of AJPE back volumes (from 2008 onwards). ScienceDirect has 1 billion annual visits and over 17,000 licenses worldwide. Although transitioning to a predominantly subscription-based publication, access will continue to be a benefit of both individual and institutional AACP membership.
Manuscripts will continue to be submitted via Editorial Manager. Accepted manuscripts, on average, will be available within 48 hours in pre-release format.Click here to read the original press release.
