Elsevier and the Institution of Structural Engineers collaborate to publish new research journal – Structures -

STM publisher Elsevier and the Institution of Structural Engineers, a professional body for qualifications and standards in structural engineering, have announced their collaboration to publish Structures, a new online peer-reviewed journal covering the full breadth of structural engineering research.

Combining the depth of structural engineering research activity from within the Institution's membership, contributions from non-member world-leading researchers and Elsevier's track record in publishing innovation, Structures aspires to quickly become a high-impact journal of choice for researchers in the field.

Uniquely, the journal seeks to emphasise the applicability of its research articles to current and future practice; making research findings both relevant and available to the widest possible audience.

The new journal will be led by Editor-in-Chief; Professor Leroy Gardner (Imperial College London) and supported by a world-class editorial board. Day-to-day publishing support will be provided by both the Institution and Elsevier.

Papers are accepted from, but not limited, to subject areas such as: structural engineering; materials; structural design; construction engineering; structural innovation; extreme events; sustainability; architectural topics (that impact structural performance) and other related areas.

Structures will publish its first papers in January 2015 and for the first year all papers will be made freely available online on ScienceDirect.
