Elsevier, a global leader in research publishing and information analytics, has announced the launch of HESI® Readiness for NCLEX® Dashboard, a new tool that empowers nursing program educators to determine and monitor change in students’ readiness for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), starting with their very first HESI® Specialty Exam.
The HESI Readiness for NCLEX Dashboard leverages an artificial intelligence-based predictive algorithm to estimate students’ likely end-of-program performance and NCLEX success based on student performance on HESI course level exams. The new dashboard provides educators with an aggregated view of performance metrics for a quick-and-easy assessment of how students and cohorts are progressing as they prepare for the NCLEX. The tool provides an at-a-glance view into factors driving cohort performance – including at-risk students and low performing categories that may indicate opportunities for curriculum improvement.
The HESI Readiness for NCLEX Dashboard is coming at a time when new nurses are greatly needed in the U.S. to combat a projected nursing shortage. By 2022, it is believed that 500,000 registered nurses are likely to retire, meaning an additional 1.1 million nurses are needed to join the workforce. In anticipation of this expected shortage, it is critical for nursing students to pass the NCLEX and develop the necessary skills they will need to be successful when they enter practice.
The Dashboard translates research into actionable insights, featuring an exclusive predictive model based on over 2.1 million exams and 400,000+ unique students as more exams are taken throughout the student’s academic journey. The result is early insights that are easy to understand, helping nursing programs and educators make early evidence-based decisions regarding their students and curriculum.
The HESI Readiness for NCLEX Dashboard is the latest tool available from the suite of HESI for Nursing products, Elsevier’s complete review and testing solution that enables educators to analyze and improve student performance from admission to graduation. The HESI Review & Testing solution is backed by more than 20 years of peer-reviewed research studies that highlight its effectiveness. Students who take more HESI Specialty Exams throughout their program score progressively higher on the HESI Exit Exam, which continually proves to be a reliable predictor of NCLEX-RN® success, with a history of up to 98% accuracy.
