Elsevier announces special issues to mark 200th Anniversary of Karolinska Institute -

STM publisher Elsevier, Netherlands, has announced the publication of two freely available special issues to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of Karolinska Institutet (Stockholm, Sweden). The publications - Recent Progress in Molecular Sciences: Reviews from Karolinska Institutet at its 200-year Anniversary and Special Issue Celebrating the 60-Year Anniversary of ECR and the 200-Year Anniversary of the Karolinska Institute - are publicly available until August 1, 2010.

Karolinska Institute (KI) was founded in 1810 and, to mark the occasion, Elsevier journals Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications (BBRC) and Experimental Cell Research (ECR) decided to simultaneously publish special anniversary issues that present mini-reviews, written by leading scientists from the Karolinska Institute, illustrating recent developments within areas of biomedical research at the molecular level. Both collections of review articles are currently freely available online.

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications is an international journal devoted to the rapid dissemination of timely and significant experimental results in diverse fields of biological research. The development of the 'Breakthroughs and Views' section brings the mini-review format to the journal, and issues often contain collections of special interest manuscripts. Now in its 60th year of publication, Experimental Cell Research promotes the understanding of cell biology by publishing experimental studies on the general organisation and activity of cells. The scope of the journal includes all aspects of cell biology - from the molecular level to the level of cell interaction and differentiation.
