Elsevier expands LeapSpace with advisory oversight and largest research content base -

Elsevier announced that LeapSpace, its research‑grade AI workspace designed to support complex research workflows, now incorporates the most extensive collection of peer‑reviewed scientific content available to any AI research tool. The platform draws on more than 23 million full‑text peer‑reviewed articles and books, representing over half of recent global research citations, along with 2.6 billion cited references from Scopus. This expansion includes full‑text content accounting for 56% of recent global research citations and 42% of all research articles published since 2021.

In addition to content growth, Elsevier has established an independent Advisory Board to provide expert guidance on algorithms, transparency, and publisher‑neutral standards.

Researchers report that LeapSpace supports tasks across the workflow, including study design, data generation, manuscript preparation, and literature reviews. Survey results indicate that nine out of ten users consider LeapSpace either essential or highly valuable for completing literature reviews.

The expansion is supported by new licensing agreements with BMJ Group, JAMA Network, Rockefeller University Press, and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Additional agreements extend to selected full‑text content from existing partners such as Emerald Publishing, IOP Publishing, and Sage Publishing, along with more than 1,500 scholarly publishers and societies. LeapSpace integrates Elsevier’s peer‑reviewed content with over 100 million scientific records from Scopus, covering material from more than 7,000 publishers.

The newly formed Advisory Board provides independent evaluation of algorithms, ensures publisher‑neutral content discovery, advises on responsible AI use in academic settings, and supports transparent outputs. Founding members include Chancellor’s Professor Emeritus Jörg‑Rüdiger Sack (Chair), Carleton University, Canada; Professor Jodi Schneider, University of Wisconsin‑Madison, United States; Professor Holger Hoos, RWTH Aachen University and Leiden University; Professor Fei Wu, Zhejiang University, China; and Dr. Mikiko Tanifuji, National Institute of Informatics, Japan.

LeapSpace was recognized as the Best Generative AI Solution at the 2026 CODiE Awards, a peer‑reviewed technology industry program.
