STM publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of the International Journal of Surgery Open (IJS Open), a new open access journal covering all areas of surgery. This peer-reviewed, online-only journal will make significant contributions to knowledge in clinical surgery, experimental surgery, and surgical education and history widely available to the global surgical community. The journal began accepting submissions in March 2015 and will begin publishing articles in August 2015.
Dr. R. David Rosin, Professor and Head of the Academic Surgical Unit, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, University of the West Indies (Barbardos), has been appointed as Editor-in-Chief of this new journal. A pioneer in his field, Dr. Rosin is attributed with the introduction of laparoscopic general surgery into England in 1989. He is also serves as Editor-in-Chief of IJS Open's sister journal, the International Journal of Surgery.
Guided by an eminent editorial board, the journal will publish original research, review articles, editorials, and commentaries on topics across the surgical spectrum. Authors publishing in IJS Open will benefit from rapid review, article-based publication and permanent access to their work on http://www.ijsopen.com and ScienceDirect.
IJS Open joins three sister journals also published by Elsevier on behalf of IJS Publishing Group: International Journal of Surgery, International Journal of Surgery Case Reports (open access), and the Annals of Medicine and Surgery (open access).
