Elsevier publishes six new books on animal science -

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the publication of six new animal science books, including the second edition of the comprehensive resource Animal Behavior, edited by Michael Breed and Janice Moore. The book broadly covers animal behaviour from its neurological basis to the importance of behaviour in conservation.

The second edition of Animal Behavior includes an entire chapter devoted to the new field of behaviour and conservation, including topics such as social behaviour and the relationship between parasites, pathogens and behaviour. Coverage also includes foraging behaviour, mating and parenting behaviour, anti-predator behaviour and learning.

Animal Behavior addresses the physiological foundations of behaviour in a way that is both accessible and inviting, with each chapter beginning with learning objectives and ending with thought-provoking questions. In addition, special terms and definitions are highlighted throughout. Containing more than 50 percent new case studies, the book is projected as a rich resource for students and professors from a wide range of life science disciplines.

The six new animal science books include, Animal Behavior, Second Edition by Michael Breed and Janice Moore; Elephant Sense and Sensibility by Michael Garstang; Animal Vigilance: Monitoring Predators and Competitors by Guy Beauchamp; Marine Mammals: Evolutionary Biology, Third Edition by Annalisa Berta, James Sumich and Kit Kovacs; Marine Mammals of the World: A Comprehensive Guide to Their Identification, Second Edition by Thomas Jefferson, Robert Pitman and Marc Webber; Sketches of Nature: A Geneticist's Look at the Biological World During a Golden Era of Molecular Evolution by John Avise.
