Elsevier, a global leader in scientific information and analytics, has relaunched its Mpox Information Center to provide free access to the latest medical and scientific research related to mpox. This move comes in response to the World Health Organization (WHO) declaring mpox a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).
The Mpox Information Center aims to accelerate efforts in combating the viral disease by offering healthcare professionals, researchers, and the public free access to crucial resources. With over 1,700 mpox-related research articles and book chapters now freely available on ScienceDirect, Elsevier’s leading platform for peer-reviewed scholarly content, the center will be continually updated with the latest findings. This wealth of data is machine-readable, allowing researchers to leverage text and data mining technologies to uncover patterns and relationships that may aid in advancing treatment options.
The comprehensive collection includes content curated in collaboration with Elsevier clinicians and experts. It aggregates research from Elsevier’s journals, medical books, monographs, and clinical information platforms. Additional resources come from major global health organizations, including the WHO and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
This initiative mirrors Elsevier’s previous responses to global health crises, such as Ebola, SARS, Zika, MERS, and COVID-19. In each instance, the company has leveraged its vast research capabilities to support those on the frontlines of disease response.
Healthcare professionals, patients, and their families can also find accessible resources specifically designed to meet their needs. Elsevier has committed to maintaining the availability of these resources for the duration of the mpox public health emergency.
