STM publisher Elsevier, Netherlands, has announced that it is partnering with several universities from around the globe to launch Scholarly Perspectives 2009, a webinar series for librarians and researchers. Senior researchers and librarians from the University of Aberdeen, Princeton University and the University of Hong Kong (HKU) will discuss best practices and share case studies on a range of topics. The topics include the strategies and tools needed to support multidisciplinary research as well as the role of e-books.
Each live, 65-minute webcast will focus on a key issue impacting today’s academic libraries and feature both a senior librarian and researcher from the hosting university as well as an Elsevier representative. A brief question and answer session will close each event.
The University of Aberdeen has hosted a webinar titled “Research Without Borders: Interdisciplinary Research”. Princeton University will host “A Life Science Lens: Connecting to Relevant Sources” on November 20, while HKU’s webinar, slated for November 30, is titled “Enriching Research and Teaching Through E-book Content”.
Elsevier publishes more than 2,000 journals, including The Lancet and Cell, and close to 20,000 book titles, including major reference works from Mosby and Saunders. Elsevier’s online solutions include ScienceDirect, Scopus, Reaxys, MD Consult and Nursing Consult.
