STM publisher Elsevier has announced that Amorette (Amy) Pedersen, Vice President of Channel Management and Marketing Operations for Science and Technology Books, Elsevier, has been named to the Board of Directors for the Book Industry Study Group (BISG). Her appointment to the board brings expertise from the science, technology and medical (STM) publishing segment to BISG, the book industry's leading trade association for policy, standards, and research.
Amy Pedersen is a highly knowledgeable publishing professional with experience ranging from production and manufacturing through marketing and distribution. She has been in her current position at Elsevier since 2009 and is responsible for product marketing, go-to-market planning, pricing, lead generation, communications, as well as for ecommerce solutions. Prior to this position, she was Elsevier's Publishing Director for the Focal Press, Syngress, Butterworth-Heinemann Security, and Morgan Kaufmann imprints. Before joining Elsevier, Amy co-founded and ran Syngress Publishing for nine years prior to selling the company to Elsevier in December 2006. She has also held marketing and editorial roles with Books24x7 (then Modern Age Books), as well as with IDG Books.
BISG aims to facilitate innovation and shared solutions for the benefit of all companies and practitioners who create, produce, and distribute published content, and the organisations that support them. Membership consists of publishers, manufacturers, suppliers, wholesalers, retailers, librarians, and others engaged in the business of print and electronic media. BISG provides a forum for all industry professionals to come together and efficiently address issues and concerns to advance the book community.
